MANAGER, LRV OPERATORS

Working as part of a dynamic Operations Department, you will support the Director, Operations in managing the Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) Operator team. You will be responsible for the preparedness and efficiency of the LRV Operators; coordinating with other departments to constantly improve service performance and efficiency of the network.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop, manage and enhance LRV Operator team
- Direct management of the LRV Operator group, which includes performance management, attendance management and annual assessments of employees;
- Recruitment of LRV Operators, assist in preparing, tracking and delivery of initial and on-going training;
- Ensure compliance and accountability with operational procedures;
- Ongoing audits of the Operational processes used in collaboration with the HSQE Manager;
- Coordinate with operators, staff, and management to hold meetings and resolve issues;
- Develop amiable, genuine, and supportive relations with Operators on a personal and professional level and collaborate with other departments to solve Operational concerns.
Report and promote performance enhancement of LRV Operator team
- Supervise and direct Operators to maximize productivity and provide safe, on-time service to our valued customers;
- Monthly reporting of Operational staff performance;
- Supervision of schedules, team performance and efficiency;
- Monitoring and compliance with the Operations Budget;
- Preparedness of the LRV Operator team for special events.
Provide support to the Operations department
- Creation and ongoing review of Operations Procedures;
- Investigate incidents in accordance with relevant procedures and ensure that lessons are captured and shared with the team;
- Participate as part of the Emergency Management Team;
- On occasion, operate LRV in revenue service;
- Represent Operations department at meetings whenever required;
- Other duties and projects as required by Director, Operations;
- Rostered for rotational on-call responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills;
- Able to supervise staff working on a wide range of equipment and from diverse backgrounds;
- Highly self-motivated team player, with sound organizational skills;
- Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Customer-focused with the ability to inspire your team with commitment and enthusiasm;
- Able to identify and rectify problems and issues in a timely manner.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in the Rail industry or Transportation industry;
- Previous management or supervisory experience, working in high-pressure and rapidly evolving environments;
- Proven knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Strong analytical abilities and comfort with reading numerical data;
- Experience in recruitment, training, and performance management;
- Experience in the development and review of standard operating procedures.
